Story Den Start a board

Father's Day gift from the kids

For the dad who says he doesn't want anything.

He already has a drawer of novelty socks. This year, send his kids one link. Each of you tells a memory of him out loud in two minutes, and on Father's Day he gets a board of your stories and voice messages.

He won't say it, but he'll play it again

A lot of dads are hard to buy for and harder to say things to. A board lets each of his kids tell him a story about himself, the kind you'd never say at the dinner table, and he can listen to it on his own time.

A Story Den Father's Day board

Sixteen, the steepest hill in town, and the car stalled with a line of traffic behind. Dad didn't grab the wheel. He said, "We've got all day," and turned up the radio. "Third try, I got it. I still hear that line whenever I'm nervous."

How it works

  1. 1

    Make the board

Say who it's for, add a line about him for Athena if you like, and pay once. You get one link to send to the family.

  2. 2

    Everyone tells one memory

Each person talks for about two minutes about one memory, like the first fishing trip or the dad joke he's told a hundred times. Athena, Story Den's interviewer, asks a follow-up or two, and then they can leave him a short voice message.

  3. 3

Give it to him on Sunday

Every memory as an illustrated watercolour card, the best lines at the top, and every voice message in a row. Send him the link, or play it after the barbecue.

Why it works for Father's Day

Easier to hear than to say

Plenty of families don't do big speeches. A story about him, told in your voice, says what "thanks, Dad" doesn't.

Funny counts

Not every memory has to be emotional. The terrible road-trip snacks and the lawnmower incident belong on the board too.

The whole family, wherever they are

Kids in different cities, grandkids, his brother across the country: each adds a memory from their own phone.

Nothing to dust

There's no mug or plaque to find a shelf for. It's a link he keeps, with every voice on it, and he can open it again any time.

One payment. No subscription.

The board, its pictures and every voice message are his to keep.

Questions

When is Father's Day, and when should I start?

Father's Day in the US and Canada is Sunday, June 20, 2027. Start a week or two before, so everyone has time to add a memory.

My dad isn't sentimental. Will he like it?

The memories don't have to be emotional. Plenty of the best ones are funny: the road trip where he refused to ask for directions, the dad joke he still tells. He gets them in your voices, and he can listen on his own.

Can it be for a stepdad, grandpa or father figure?

Yes. A board can be for anyone you'd celebrate on Father's Day. Make a separate board for each, so each one gets his own stories.

Who can add a memory?

Anyone with the link: his kids, the grandkids, his partner, his brothers, his old friends. Up to 8 people on the $19 board and 50 on the $29 one.

What if I change my mind?

If nobody has added a memory yet, we'll refund you in full within 14 days of paying. Just email contact@storyden.io. The details are in our terms.
