Terms and refunds
Effective October 4, 2026
The short version
- You pay once for a board. There's no subscription.
- Changed your mind? Full refund within 14 days, as long as nobody has added a memory yet.
- Everyone keeps the rights to what they say. Athena, the interviewer, is an AI, and the cards and pictures are made by AI from what people said.
- Anyone with a board's link can see it, so share links with care.
These terms are an agreement between you and Ploski Studio ("we", "us"), the maker of Story Den, in Canada. By using storyden.io, starting a board, adding a memory or opening a board, you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information.
What Story Den is
An organizer starts a board for someone (the "recipient") and an occasion, and shares one link. Each person who opens it (a "contributor") talks with Athena, Story Den's AI interviewer, for a couple of minutes about a memory of the recipient, and can leave a short voice message. Story Den writes each memory up as a card with an AI-made picture, and the organizer gives the recipient the finished board as a web link.
Paying for a board
- Plans. A board is for one recipient and one occasion. A board for up to 8 people costs US$19, and one for up to 50 costs US$29. In Canada, they cost CA$25 and CA$39, in Canadian dollars. A board for 8 can make room for 50 later for the difference (US$10, or CA$14). You see the price in your currency before you pay.
- One payment. You pay once, when you set the board up. There's no subscription and nothing renews.
- Payment. Stripe handles payment. We never see your card details.
- Promotion codes work only where and while we say they do.
Refunds
- Within 14 days, before any memories. If nobody has added a memory to your board yet, we'll refund you in full within 14 days of paying, no questions asked.
- After memories come in. Once someone has added a memory, the board has done its work, so we don't refund for a change of mind. If Story Den didn't work as described, for example people couldn't record or the board wouldn't open, tell us. We'll fix it, or refund you if we can't.
- Making room for 50. The same rules apply to the upgrade to 50 people: a full refund within 14 days if nobody has joined beyond the first 8.
- How. Email contact@storyden.io from the address you paid with, or include it, and say which board. Refunds go back to the card you paid with; your bank may take 5 to 10 business days to show it.
None of this limits rights you have under consumer protection law.
Recordings, cards and pictures
- Athena is an AI. Contributors talk with an AI interviewer, not a person. Their answers are recorded and written down so Story Den can make their card.
- Cards are written by AI from what each person said. We tell it to use only their words and facts, but it can still get things wrong. Organizers can leave any card off the board.
- Pictures are made by AI. They're illustrations inspired by the memory, not photos of real people or places.
- Voice messages are played to the recipient exactly as recorded.
What you say and add
Everyone keeps the rights to their own words, recordings and messages. By adding them, you let us store and process them to run Story Den: to transcribe them, write the card, make the picture and show them on the board to anyone with its link. We also use them to improve Story Den, for example to test better ways of writing cards. We never sell them or let AI providers train on them (see the Privacy Policy).
Please be kind. Only share what you're happy for the recipient, and the people they share the board with, to see and hear. Don't add anything unlawful, hateful or harassing, or anything private about someone else that they wouldn't want shared. Organizers can hide cards, and we may remove content or close boards that break these rules.
Who can see a board
Boards aren't listed or searchable. Anyone with a board's link can see it, and anyone with the shared link can add a memory and see the memories so far. The organizer's private link manages the board, so keep that one to yourself. The recipient can share the finished board with whoever they like.
Fair use
Don't use scripts or bots, try to get around the limits on a board, copy Story Den's service or use it for anything illegal. If you do, we may block access.
Keeping boards online
We keep improving Story Den, so features may change. We mean to keep boards online for as long as Story Den runs. If we ever have to stop, we'll email organizers at least 60 days before boards go offline.
No warranty
Story Den is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, as far as the law allows. We don't promise it will always be available or error-free.
Limitation of liability
As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us for the board in question. Some places don't allow these limits, and then they apply only as far as permitted.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we'll update them here and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll say so on storyden.io. A change never takes away a refund you were already owed.
